What drives the price
Severity. Early, mild bumps and established keloid-like scarring are different jobs. A consultation determines where your case falls — that's why reputable providers quote after seeing you, not before.
Scope of the plan. A single session, a multi-session series, and ongoing maintenance are different commitments. Anyone quoting you a total without assessing severity is guessing.
AKN ATL pricing *(confirmed)*
- Consultations: complimentary, 10–15 minutes — virtual or in person. Covers your concerns, AKN severity, treatment history, current products and medications, your goals, and the recommended plan.
- Single sessions: priced by severity, treatment area, and services needed — exact price after assessment. The AKN service itself runs about 10–15 minutes, with additional time when add-on modalities are included (cleansing/prep, ingrown-hair removal or extraction, exfoliation, scalp detox/steam, high-frequency therapy, red-light therapy, microdermabrasion as needed).
- Treatment series: $1,400–$1,600 — 3 sessions plus home products, typically spaced 7–10 days apart. Advanced cases may require additional sessions.
- Rapid Relief Program: starts at $3,500 — may be higher or lower depending on severity, affected area, and recommended protocol (finalized after assessment). 2–3 closely scheduled sessions, customized at-home products, an individualized treatment strategy, and follow-up guidance. Built for intensive, accelerated cases — including clients traveling to Atlanta for treatment.
- 90-day maintenance: $450 — one session per month for three months, plus one product kit. For post-treatment or ongoing management.
- Memberships: customized; standard $550/month — payments due the 1st–5th of the month, not prorated. Benefits vary by plan: services, treatments, products, priority booking, and discounts on additional services.
- Bump Relief Kit: $149 — the home-care system (see Article 6 for the full breakdown).
Deposits — the straight version
A deposit is required to move forward with booking and lock a time slot:
- Booking within the same week: $150
- Booking within 30 days: $250
- Booking more than 30 days out: 50% of the total service/program balance
All deposits are applied directly toward your balance. Deposits are non-refundable but transferable for one approved reschedule — reschedule a second time and the original deposit is forfeited; a new deposit is required. An appointment is not confirmed, and a time slot is not guaranteed, until the deposit is received.
Payment and insurance — the straight version
AKN ATL is a barber studio, not a medical practice, so we don't bill insurance — our services are self-pay. HSA may be accepted (itemized receipts provided; no guarantee of HSA qualification). Afterpay, Klarna, and Affirm may be available.
This is separate from medical AKN care: if you're seeing a dermatologist, their office handles its own billing and insurance questions — ask them directly, because coverage varies by plan and diagnosis. We make no claims about what any insurer covers.
If cost is a concern, say so in the consultation. We'd rather build a plan you can actually follow than sell you one you can't.
Getting the most value (without the hype)
The old draft promised "the fastest results" and "done once." Here's the honest version:
- Start with a proper assessment. Spending money before knowing your severity is how people waste it.
- Follow through on the plan you agree to. Stopping halfway and restarting later usually costs more than finishing once — that's true of most recurring services, not a sales threat.
- Budget for maintenance from the start. AKN is a chronic condition. Maintenance isn't an upsell; it's the nature of the condition. Ask what it costs before you begin so there are no surprises.
- Do the home care. The kit exists to support the work between visits. Whether it earns its $149 depends on you using it consistently — your barber should show you exactly how.
The cost of waiting
This isn't pressure — it's dermatology: without treatment, AKN lesions usually persist and can progress. Earlier-stage cases are generally simpler to manage than advanced ones. That's a medical fact, not a sales tactic, and it's the best argument for a consultation sooner rather than later.
Your next step: book a consultation — complimentary, and you'll leave knowing exactly what your case needs and what it costs. Or start with the Bump Relief Kit if you want to improve your home routine now.
